Barbera d'Asti DOC Bricco dell'Uccellone
Product by: Braida
The revered vines of Bricco dell'Uccellone are the source of Braida's flagship wine. Planted on a 250-metres high crest near the commune of Rocchetta Tanaro they produce grapes of such an exceptional quality that the late Giacomo Bologna decided to select them for what is known as "Super Barbera". The Bricco dell'Uccellone has become one of Italy's iconic wines since its first release in 1982.
Vinification
After strict selection in both vineyard and winery all grapes are stemmed and crushed before fermentation on skins for around 20 days in stainless-steel tanks. Natural malolactic fermentation occurs before the wine is matured in new and seasoned barriques for a year. After being bottled the wine is cellared another year before release.
Tasting Note
Bricco dell'Uccellone shows refined blueberry, blackberry, cocoa, liquorice, vanilla and spice on the nose, following through on a long palate that unfolds extremely smooth and balanced with oak and sumptuous fruit perfectly integrated.
Food Matches
Braised beef in red wine, roasts and aged cheeses.
