Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG
Founded in 1955 by Luigi Vagnoni, Azienda Agricola Vagnoni produces limited quantities of rich and concentrated hand made wines from 20 hectares of low yield hillside vineyards near the ancient town of San Gimignano in the Chianti zone of Colli Senesi. The wines are made by Gigi Vagnoni who produces his wines true to the original style. The Chianti Colli Senesi reflects this style by complementing the Sangiovese (85%) with small amounts of Canaiolo (5%), Trebbiano (5%) and Colorino (5%).
Vinification
All grapes are handpicked and go through 12 days maceration on the skins in order to extract colour, tannins and flavour. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks the wines spends another 12 months and tank and 4 months in the bottle before being released.
Tasting Note
This Chianti shows lively ruby red in the glass and exudes a wild array of aromas reminiscent of cherry, blackberry, violets and spice. Initially shy and robust, the wine gains beautiful elegance when given some time in the glass. Packed with flavour, fresh acidity and fine grained tannins it leaves your palate with a harmonious and dry finish.
