Zaccagnini

Zaccagnini logoAzienda Agricola Zaccagnini was founded in 1978 in the village of Bolognano near Pescara. With the total annual production growing from 1,000 to 800,000 bottles in around two decades, Zaccagnini embodies the success that has come down on southern wine regions. Key to this success is Montepulciano, a variety producing muscular red wines with relative smooth tannins and refreshing acid, its easy drinkability and very accessible. Its wide appeal is shown in all of winemaker Concezio Marulli's wines, ranging from the uncomplicated Kasaura through to the premium Chronicon and San Clemente, the latter a yearly contender for Gambero Rosso's Three Glasses. The cane-cut and late harvested Clematis is the lusciously sweet and hedonistic interpretation of this variety.

Apart from the red Montepulciano grape, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, Riesling, Chardonnay and Moscato di Castiglione are grown in the estate's vineyards. Those white varieties produce wines including the fresh and vibrant Bianco di Ciccio and the Plaisir, a rich and honeyed desert wine from the IGT of Colline Pescaresi. http://www.cantinazaccagnini.it/
