Coroncino
Coroncino was founded in 1982
when Lucio Canestrari planted a vineyard with Verdicchio at this
fattoria near the village of Staffolo. Since the first
releases in 1985 Canestrari has received critical acclaim for its
outstanding Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC, praise that has
been confirmed by extending the portfolio with Gaiospino, a wine
that belongs to the best the DOC has to offer.
Compared to other Italian wine regions the viticultural landscape of the Marche is fairly simple with Verdicchio as the only white variety planted. However, a combination of terroir, low yields, tight selection and various picking times allows different styles of wines as shown by Coroncino. Whether it's the unwooded introductory wine 'Il Bacco' or the barrel fermented Gaiospino, all wines are characterized by a fragrance and richness that is far from ordinary.
