Santa Caterina
Azienda Agricola Santa Caterina is a small
estate situated in the Magra Valley, the most eastern part of
Liguria between the Magra River, mountains and sea. Officially part
of both Liguria and Tuscany, the area and its inhabitants share
their own historical and cultural identity. In this mountainous
land ancient native grape varieties such as Albarola, Vermentino,
Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Ciliegiolo are grown in Santa Caterina's
four vineyards although proprietor Andrea Kihlgren also likes to
experiment with non-native varieties as Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and
Tocai. All viticulture is based on organic principles, aiming at a
pure and optimal expression of variety, vintage and terroir.
