The Brachetto grapes grown around the Piedmontese town of Acqui produce this truly unique dessert wine. Because of its extremely limited production and high demand Brachetto d'Acqui is rarely seen outside Italy, however, scarcity is amply compensated by its fine quality and distinctive character.

Vinification

The fermentation of the grapes occurs in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and is halted when alcohol levels reach 5.5 percent, leaving residual sugar in the wine. Pressure-controlled bottling ensures a slight fizz is retained, producing a delicate red frizzante or semi-sparkling wine.

Tasting Note

Light ruby red in the glass the wine shows lively foam and a persistent perlage. Its gently perfumed bouquet is reminiscent of roses and strawberries following through to a light, delicate and sweet palate with great finesse and intensity.

Food Matches

Brachetto d'Acqui is the ideal wine with panettone or Christmas cake, fruit based desserts, strawberry sorbet and chocolate.
