Arneis Blange DOC
Product by: Ceretto
The Piedmontese district of Roero is the heartland of Arneis, a variety once largely abandoned by growers who planted more profitable peach trees on the fertile alluvial soils near the river Tanaro. Over the last 25 years its fortunes have reversed with plantings now exceeding 400 hectares in the DOC. In the meantime the popularity of Ceretto's Blange has risen to such extend its name is widely used as a synonym for dry white wine.
Vinification
Around 40 percent of the grapes are frozen to a temperature of -7 degrees Celsius after which pressing occurs. Fermentation takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks while a small amount of the resulting Carbon Dioxide is kept in the wine before bottling to enhance fragrance and flavour.
Tasting Note
Pale straw in the glass the wine offers aromas of pear, apple, herbs and white flowers following through to a richly textured palate where a light fizz makes flavours and fresh acid more noticeable.
Food Matches
Squid, fish, salads.
