Barolo DOCG Bricco Rocche Prapo
Product by: Ceretto
Founded by Riccardo Ceretto in 1937 in Alba, Ceretto now has over 120 hectares of vineyards in the very best sites of the Barolo and Barbaresco regions. The single-vineyard wines from various production zones of Barolo are produced at the Bricco Rocche winery in Castiglione Falletto. Ceretto has a 2.4 hectare holding in the revered Prapo vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba, known for the production of classic structured Barolo with excellent ageing potential.
Vinification
After handpicking of the grapes the juice is fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for around 10 days. During this period the juice is automatically pumped over the floating cap in order to maximise extraction of colour and flavour. The wine is further macerated for a week with submerged cap followed by ageing in small 300-liter barrels of French oak for 30 months.
Tasting Note
Deep purple with an orange tinge the nose offers complex aromas of rose, berry fruit, plum, cedar, spice, earth and undergrowth following through to a full-bodied palate with muscular tannins, balanced acidity and a long, powerful finish.
Food Matches
Try this wine with game, poultry or mature cheese.
