Tasca d'Almerita

Tasca d'Almerita logoThe history of Tasca d'Almerita goes back to 1830 when brothers Don Lucio and Don Carmelo Mastrogiovanni bought 1200 hectares of land in the Sclafani countryside between Palermo and Enna. Today count and countess Tasca run the estate that has been promoting top-end Sicilian wines for 60 years. Notwithstanding the highly innovative approach of viticulture and winemaking, tradition is never far away with 460 hectares of vineyard mainly planted with indigenous varieties such as Nero d'Avola, Nerello Mascalese, Inzolia, Cataratto and Grecanico. Grown at an altitude between 500m to 750m, cool night temperatures produce grapes with remarkable acidity and minerality given the estate's southern Mediterranean location. The impressive Nero d'Avola-based Rosso del Conte presides an extensive range of wines that also includes the Regaleali Bianco and Regaleali Nero d'Avola, both awarded the Oscar Qualita/Prezzo by Gambero Rosso. http://www.tascadalmerita.it/
