Vagnoni
A renowned producer in the Loire Valley
once stated that before a wine can be good it should be true,
aiming at ultimate expression of authenticity and terroir as
requisite for quality. The wines from Azienda Agricola Vagnoni are
entirely crafted in this philosophy, not compromising traditional
values to commercial reality. In practice this means for example
that only native varieties are grown on the in 1955 founded estate
near the town of San Gimignano.
Over the years Vagnoni has build itself a reputation for outstanding Vernaccia di San Gimignano, vigorously promoting the variety and DOCG throughout the country. The Chianti Colli Senesi is produced in the most traditional way with an Uvaggio or varietal blend including Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino and Trebbiano while fermentation and maturation takes places in cement vessels instead of barrels. In a market too often reigned by mediocrity and sameness Vagnoni's wines are therefore a true revelation. http://www.fratellivagnoni.com/
