Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC Ripasso Capitel San Rocco

Product by: Tedeschi

Since its foundation in 1824, the six generations at Agricola Fratelli Tedeschi have steadily expanded their empire. Purchases of distinguished vineyards such as Monte Fontana and Monte Olmi, the development of a unique style and the promotion of their wines on both doestic and international markets have brought the estate world-wide recognition.

Vinification

The Capitel San Rocco consists of 30% Corvina, 30% Corvinone, 30% Rondinella and 10% of Rossignola, Oseleta, Negrara, Dindarella and Molinara. The grapes are hand harvested in October and fermentation takes place in small fermentation vats for a period of approximately 14 days. The wine is then rested in stainless steel tanks until March when the skins of Amarone and Recioto are poured into the must. This causes the wine to perform a slightly secondary fermentation that lasts about 15 days. The method produces interesting and complex characters in the wine. The wine is then aged for a further 2 years in oak barels and after bottling six months in the cellar before release.

Tasting Note

The wine shows a strong ruby red colour with complex hints of cherry, raspberry and redcurrant. Fruity, well-balanced and round on the finish, it has a long lasting and persistant flavour.
